PRISMA Collective Group Exhibition
February 15th – March 17th, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, February 15th, 6-10pm
This February, we are excited (and honored) to host the inaugural group exhibition from PRISMA, an international artist collective founded by painter and curator Kaspian Shore. Founded in 2011, the group currently supports 30 talented creatives, working in the fields of traditional and digital painting, drawing, illustration, and sculpting. PRISMA stands for a high standard in professionalism and almost exclusively features internationally renowned artists. They have built a tightly woven network and established good friendships within their collective that serve to encourage and promote their artists, representing the core of what PRISMA is about: stepping out of the isolation in the vastness of the art market.
Featured Artists Include: Mary Jane Ansell, Ana Bagayan, Tom Bagshaw, Lindsey Carr, Julian Callos, Hsiao-Ron Cheng, JAW Cooper, Leontine Greenberg, Nicole Gustafsson, Caitlin Hackett, Daria Hlazatova, Ruben Ireland, Sarah Joncas, Nom Kinnear King, Kit Lane, Edith Lebeau, Alex Louisa, Rod Luff, Jen Mann, Kelly McKernan, Soey Milk, Lady Orlando, Lilly Piri, Audrey Pongracz, Michael Shapcott, Kaspian Shore, Allison Sommers, Kelly Vivanco, Casey Weldon & Bec Winnel.
New Works by Kristina Micotti
January 11th – February 3rd, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, January 11th, 6-10pm
Subtext is kicking off our 2013 season with up and coming local talent, Kristina Micotti. As a recent graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University, Kristina has already begun to make her mark on the San Diego art scene. Her beautifully narrative illustrations have a whimsical quality that reflects the artists’ warm personality and love for nostalgia. Sentimental Mood – her first solo exhibition – is a portrait series of folk heroes that Kristina admires and adores. We hope you can join us for our first show of the year!
New Works by Joshua Krause
November 30th – December 28th, 2012
Opening Reception with the Artist: Friday, November 30th, 6-10pm
“An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way.” - Charles Bukowski
In one way or another, we all strive to make things a little simpler. In Joshua Krause’s case, it started with diet and a martial arts training regimen, and ended in a shift in attitude that eventually spawned, Simple Ways. In his lastest body of work, Krause has been inspired by his new approach on life, and by “getting out of his own way,” he has achieved a purity that he hasn’t been able to capture in his previous exhibitions. Drawing inspiration from disparate places and non traditional materials, these primal influences have gotten him in better touch with himself, which ultimately allowed him to focus his thoughts and find some order in this wild, wild world.
