Cereal Killer
New Works by Patrick Ballesteros
October 2nd – November 1st, 2009
Opening Reception with the Artist: Friday, October 2nd, 6-10pm
You wanna know one thing that’s not part of a healthy breakfast? Getting killed by a bear! Just when we thought it was safe to sit down and have a nutritous breakfast, a string of gruesome murders began haunting all of our favorite breakfast cereal mascots. They were getting picked off one by one, and who do you think was behind it? Toucan Sam? Count Chocula? Frankenberry? No. It was Sugar Bear all along. Join us this Fall at Subtext as artist Patrick Ballesteros retraces the steps of Sugar Bear’s reign of terror, and see for yourself why he couldn’t get enough. More about the artist after the jump…
Urged by his friend Eleazar, Patrick held his first art show titled “Sleep Parade” at The Kuttingroom Gallery in 2007. This art show led to several new opportunities, which included exhibiting more of his work at Gallery 1988, ISM, and now Subtext Gallery.
Today, Patrick lives in Los Angeles with his fiancée, teaches part time at the Art Institute of Orange County, and continues his awesome freelance career.
Next in the works… a children’s book and lots more 80′s gold!
